FILL: The Better Men (20f/30ish)

(Anonymous) 2012-01-31 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
"What did?" Professor Lehnsherr asked.

"The spell. He cast a spell at me. Dark green light, thick as my arm, hit me right in the chest. And it hurt really bad but it didn't seem to... damage anything? Like, it stopped hurting after a minute and then I was fine."

Professor Lehnsherr's voice was a croak. "Did Professor Shaw seem angry or disappointed at how the spell turned out?"

"No, he seemed really happy, actually. Told me I'd be fine, and not to tell anyone, and that I'd understand soon."

"Understand what?"

"I don't know."

"Scorpius," Professor Xavier said. "What was the incantation he used?"

"It was something with lotus. Lotus letalis, I think?" He began unbuttoning his shirt. "Lotus – that's a flower, right? Is that what this is? This mark it left on me?" He opened his shirt hesitantly, revealing the black flower-shape in the center of his chest.

"Yes," Professor Xavier said faintly, and if Scorpius had thought they were pale before, they both looked like parchment now. "Yes, that is indeed a lotus."

Holy crap.

First off I have to say that I've never had the urge to hug Draco Malfoy as badly as I do right now. I don't know if it was your intention to suggest that he was sexually abused during his school years, but whether he was or wasn't he is one damn good father to tell his son what to do to help protect him and keep him from thinking he was on his own in any such situation. And frankly, I think Professors Lehnsherr and Xavier are the best possible choices for teachers to turn to for help.

Shaw needs to die. Soooooooooo badly. And ideally painfully. But mostly any way that gets him thoroughly dead and stops any evil-in-progress that he's got going on...and also punches him repeatedly. And then punches his tombstone, if bigoted manipulative murdering monsters get tombstones. And then we can all dance on his grave, unless there's some way in which that would benefit him or his goals. If that were the case, we would avoid doing that forever.

It's an incredibly large emotional shift now to focus back on Erik and Charles's romance, but I really liked the steps forward they were making. Although Erik really needs to tune in to the other half of the problem, the part that isn't about their personal conflicts and arguments. (Erik, in case you're wondering? It has to do with your anti-Muggle mindset!)

I do feel really bad for the pair of them suffering all these years, thinking that the other didn't care about them at all. You stupid, stupid boys! Although that could have been avoided if you weren't such a dick, Erik. Quit being a dick.

I am a big fan of your plans for Shaw. Grave-dancing is indeed an option.

I think all advice ever given to Erik could be boiled down "Quit being a dick." Charles should just have a sign to hold up at appropriate moments.

Or he could give Erik a bracelet modeled after the "WWJD" ones, except this one would say "QBAD" for "Quit Being A Dick." Actually, I really want someone to market these now.

Oh, this is going to be good.

I love the letter - it's the perfect blend of begging, demanding and romance, and well worth the wait. Even though they're interrupted by this new dramatic twist, too, there's something so lovely and domestic about their morning that I really enjoyed.

Aw, I'm so glad, 'cuz I loved the domesticity, too. All the domestic fluff FOREVER. And I feel like I agonized over that letter almost as much as Erik did, so I'm really happy it delivered!
