(I could be wrong, but this is how I'm reading it) I love the little motifs you clothe your updates in, which kind of informs the progress of the plot as well. The way you treat contact in this one is astounding, demonstrating both violence and love, making it both a long-waited for relief (tangling together, embracing one another), and a kind of abhorrence in a way (reminding us of their situation; the 'chimaera'-like 'animal' of their union). And their hearts, flying out like hands, like fists, and then later, like fingers finding the other's secret spot (begged for, granted permission to).

I like how they're both in over their heads literally too (taht bit about ruling a country, and Charles getting a glimpse of Erik's past). Erik 'drowning out' his thoughts and Charles's as he is showering, Charles's shadow 'washing over' him when he approaches in the room.

Kudos. And bravo, Erik. Let go your heart as you do your fist. Depending on where you let it fly and how freely, a blow twice as strong will return to you.

(Also, this MOVED me, okay. I was gonna go sleep but THE FEELINGS. So if you would take this little thank-you for a lovely chapter... (http://kannibal.tumblr.com/post/17445975630/like-a-fist-like-a-heart-like-an-open-hand) )

Normally I am terrible at replying to comments quickly, because I like to do them all in a batch, but OH. MY. GOD. I've already just reblogged and gushed all over this on tumblr, but, oh my god, thank you so much! This is so beautiful, and the fact you not only picked up on one of my favourite secret pleasures (imagery and metaphors) and then made it into something this beautiful - I'm so delighted and elated and I have so many feelings right now.

Uh. Trying to be coherent and answer your point about the images I use. I think one of the things I really enjoy about art, and one of the things I love to try and do in writing, is using touch and implication and juxtaposition to tell a story in and of itself without needing to say things explicitly; there are certain motifs I come back to again and again, eyes and hands and water especially (which you will notice in my STXI fic, too, as well as a lot of my original stuff.) I'm just really so happy you noticed it, and the art -

Thank you, so so much. I can't really express how delighted I am. You're amazing.

It's so coherent and unassuming and just viscerally real ;___; I was literally shaking my head when they started doing it, going, "and this was a hand that broke countries, a hand that broke itself just this morning, and it can do this, why can't it just kind of do this (also figuratively XD) always!?" The thing is, you don't keep the image static, it's all over the chapter, ties up w/ all chapters before it.

Raising my glass to you ☆

LOVE this. Really lovely way to say it (and see it!,) thank you!
