LJ Release 88
Dec. 19th, 2011 11:28 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Most of you know about the comment subject line changes that are scheduled to go through tomorrow; we’re sure many of you have been worrying about what to do about kink memes, which use subject lines to function at all. We're sorry to say that as mods, we still don't have the power to fix this automatically -- the usability of subject lines will, if LJ pushes the changes through tomorrow (Dec. 20), drop to nothing.
To sum up the changes that will happen:
For now, what we recommend is for you to bookmark your favorite threads so you can find them again if/when the subject lines disappear. We realize this is not ideal and will not help with viewing the meme's individual comment pages, but it is one way to make sure you will not lose track of the threads you are currently following.
If these changes do happen we ask that you take heed to this new rule. The first line of every comment must contain exactly what you would find in the subject line: the pairing and any trigger warnings, and if it is a fill, the numbered part.
Unfortunately, Dreamwidth does not support the importing of communities at this time, so we will be unable to make a backup there.
And finally, if anyone has suggestions on S2 styles that could be useful or related info, please drop us a comment.
To sum up the changes that will happen:
- users tracking the threads will not receive subject lines through email, only notifications of new comments
- users viewing the meme on the main page will not be able to see subject lines at all
- users may eventually lose the ability to even include a subject line with their comment
- already existing subject lines will be gone
