Hi everyone! We've recently had a few comments/suggestions made to us that we'd think would help better the community; as always, the first step to implementing changes here is getting input from the community as a whole. So please help fill out the below and read through the rest of the post. Only logged in members can participate in the poll, but note that results will be screened to other members.

Thanks for taking the time to read through this! Any questions or comments can be posted here or at the Ask A Mod page

ETA: The poll is now closed. From now on, there will be a 48 hour wait period in between rounds; comment limits will remain at 5,000. Thanks for your participation!

First, let me apologize for the tardiness in posting this. That is completely our fault, and we hope no one was offended by it.

Now, having read through your comments in our last post on ableism, here is what's been decided. Ableism will be treated like every other warning; it will be required for both prompters and fillers to include a warning for ableist language, thoughts, and actions. We know that there is ambiguity when it comes to this (and it's not unique to this warning alone), but we trust that members will try to make appropriate decisions on when a warning is necessary. All we ask is that everyone be prepared to repost a prompt or a fill with a warning if asked by a mod (again, like for all other warnings). Prompters and writers, if you make the mistake of not including a warning, repost your prompt/fill and let us know by making a comment at the Ask A Mod page. The same goes for readers who spot a comment that they think needs a warning.

We made a mistake in including walking!AUs in the last post as examples of ableism, and we apologize for that. Those do not have to include a warning, though a note letting readers know that Charles can walk would be recommended as a courtesy.

Please, if you have any doubt or need help determining whether your prompt/fill needs a warning, ask and we'll be happy to help. And a reminder: all warnings should be posted in the subject line of your comment.

Finally, we welcome all opinions on this. But community rules still stand and comments attacking other members or the mods will not be allowed.

Disclaimer: After writing this, I sent it to the other mods and some friends of mine to check to make sure it didn't say anything problematic, but if they or I missed something important or said something wrong, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm still learning.

Something's been brought to our attention in regards to language people have been using re: disability, and problematic depictions thereof. It's great that we have a character in this fandom who is disabled, and it's great that there is a lot of interest in writing about him! But there are people on this meme who are also disabled, and insensitive or simply ignorant words can really hurt them. As our goal with this meme is to maintain a space where everyone present can feel comfortable participating, we'd like to keep this from happening, and we hope you feel the same way.
