**MOD POST** URGENT ADDRESS OF THE STATE AND QUALITY OF THIS KINK_MEME

Hello everyone!

Firstly, I wish to apologize for the lack of moderation of this kink_meme. Unfortunately majority of the mods are MIA and I have been in university with an extreme workload and unable to help out. I guess this is my first actual moderator post as I was not informed of the process of how this works before the other mods stopped responding. So, HELLO! I'm not even sure if these posts are allowed but at this point I'm hoping to get this meme back on its feet.

At this point, I'm going to need all the help that I can get to return this meme back to its glory, to gauge the interest of this meme and the fandom and work better with you guys to enforce the rules and make the necessary changes.

So, I guess my questions to you guys are:

a) Do you guys still think its relevant to have this community up and running? Unfortunately the firstclass fandom has dwindled a bit in recent times but I'm hoping that we can all come back from this with the new movie in the process.

b) What do you want to see changed about this community (if anything)? Any changes to the moderator duties, enforcement of rule breaking, changes to the rules?

c) What do you wish to see stay?

d) Anything you wish to see added?

e) Feedback for me, as the main moderator at this point I guess, so that I can work to help you guys out the best way that I can.

f) Anyone who has time to potentially help me out can PM me or respond to this post.

g) Anything else you wish to share!

a. YES. The kink meme is always relevant!

a-e. I'd mainly like to see new prompt posts go up when they're supposed to, the mods respond to issues people have, that sort of thing. Basically, maintenance and mod presence.

(I'd also like to see CNTW (Choose Not To Warn) be allowed to be used in lieu of the other warnings, but that's neither here nor there right now.)

f. I am willing/able to help if there's anything I can do!

Absolutely! I totally agree with you there. Mod presence is something that is of the utmost importance and I think a little revamping of the kink_meme will do a lot for people to feel comfortable to post here again.

That would be absolutely lovely. I'm trying to think of what needs to be done and I definitely think an updated rules post (once more people comment about their preferences and such), and a new round to begin shortly. I'm still learning how to do all of this so I hope that I'm getting everything right!

Welcome back! Thank you for this post, and for letting us know what is going on. I really appreciate it.

The kinkmeme has definitely slowed down a LOT, but it's not dead yet by any means -- plenty of people are still posting prompts and fills. And it could easily pick back up a lot when the new movies comes out, or even when we just start getting cast photos and interviews.

I think just knowing we have a mod around and available will help a lot. I haven't noticed any huge rules violations in recent months -- those of use who are left seem content to play nicely.

My number one request for the moment would be to close Round 10 and open Round 11. Round 10 is slowly but surely creeping up in number of comments and we don't want to hit the comment limit on the post.

Thank you! I've felt so bad recently for letting this meme get out from under me. I'm very glad to have seen that no serious wank has been happening.

I am in complete agreement with closing round 10 and opening round 11. That will be done once we get a general consensus of thoughts and concerns so that maybe a few rules will be tweaked for the next round starting up.

I would very much like to see this meme stay open! I haven't been active much here lately, but I love kinkmemes in general as a low-pressure way to participate in fandom, and would be most sad to see XMFC fandom not have one. No real comments on the other issues, beyond a general yay! for your return (and approval at the recruiting of new mods, since life can get busy!)

I think the reason it feels like the fandom's dwindled is because people have migrated to Tumblr in large numbers (I'm personnaly very saddened by that because I miss the community interaction), but I know people would still use the meme for fic.

So yeah, definitely relevant.

I think there is definitely enough of a presence to warrant it :D:D And I imagine there might be a resurgence of interest, what with Days of Future Past beginning production! I agree we should establish mod presence first (such as closing Round 10 and opening Round 11), as I think one major reason kink meme is slowing down because people feel this place is abandoned, considering firstclass fandom still have constant daily activities in other places like AO3 and tumblr. I myself stop posting my fic here because I was afraid Round 10 hits limit and froze my post threads.

I'd just like for someone to clarify what kind of triggers I should be warning for because on one hand I don't WANT to trigger anyone and prudent to warn for every little thing, but on the other it may detract from the story itself. A more official word on this would be nice o/

Consider this my 2 cents: It would be magnificent if the KM remained!

As for contributions - Are the mods for the delcious/pinboard accounts still kicking about? Because I could see myself setting something up for round 10 and onwards for unfilled/filled prompts (if you can't gain access) or start updating the pre-existing one.

Just give me a buzz if that's something you think you would like someone to do :)

d) New prompt post please! I was getting a little worried for the round 10 post.
Consider prompt fill fests too if you have the time and feel up for organizing things like that.

I'm so excited about this! I'd love for this place to pick up again!

Just one thing to think about: the current rules about reposting from past prompt posts might be frustrating for round 11, since some of the stuff from round 10 has been up for almost a year! Don't really have any ideas about how to fix this (in the long run) or anything, mostly just a thought.

I'd like it if the prompt post closed to prompts at ~3500 comments that way there will be room for fills without having to answer a captcha every time you try to fill something on a post that has more than 5,000 comments.

I'd also like it if there were a week or maybe more in-between prompt posts so that people have a chance to look through the memes and possibly fill some prompts before the next meme goes up and everyone forgets about the previous one.

There's already a 48 hour break between rounds. I don't think there's any reason to make it a week in any event, but especially not with how slow the meme is right now anyway. I don't think we even need 48 hours atm.

YAY for Mod Presence...ugh yes please keep this open. Even though LJ is getting dated I love the community feel of it as well. The fandom still exists and will thrive with a leader. Also, yes the next movie is out next year so no reason to kill this comm.

I like the rules I didn't really have any complaints in that regard.Perhaps get a nice set of mods since RL does take over and sometimes unexpectedly.

The Fills thread...the find a fic thread

The Harry Potter comms (especially Dramione) are still thriving and it's been out of the media/book game for a while now. What I see that keeps it going are challenges, Fanfic Awards, etc. I think some kind of competition or bi annual fic awards thing will keep things interactive.

e) Feedback for me, as the main moderator at this point I guess, so that I can work to help you guys out the best way that I can.

Right now I'm only working one job so I have some time to help with anything you'll need. However, I am a freelance filmmaker so at some point I'm going to pick up another job that will not leave me any free time at all.

Perhaps we should link this with AO3. For a cleaner look amongst the threads fillers should post their fills on AO3. At this point I'm thinking mostly all writers have an account and if not there's members that have invitations to give.

You could open a Round Collection on AO3 and that's only for fills that people can link to the collection. The Kink Comm can be used for prompts and discussion of prompts.

*just something swirling inside my head because sometimes I get overwhelmed going through pages and pages of half completed fills mixed with comments, etc.

I'm a late comer in xmfc fandom. kink meme was the first place I got to (it was already round 9 or 10), and I was truly amazed there was so many good prompts, and well written fills/fics, tho I never got to read them all, only a few particular ones. Later I came to know ao3, and tumblr, but kink meme was always the starter place for me and that means so much (yes it's sappy but it's true)and I can't ever imagine this place not running anymore, I mean all the wonderful prompts, those already filled and those waiting to be filled. (I'm sorry my comment is not relevant but I just... have feels. please don't close it down)

Yes! I love this fandom and this meme! It's by far my favorite one EVER. There are only two changes I would like to see. The first would be to set up a pinboard account to archive prompts going forward (though someone could totally try to tackle the old ones too, if they wanted). Delicious kind of fell apart when yahoo bought it, and it's not all that great for memes anymore. :/

Second, is a tiny rule change/amendment. When old prompts are reposted, there is a rule that the original prompt must be linked to. Can this be a two way thing? Obviously, nobody wants to shuffle through multiple prompts in the archives, so we'd just archive the original prompt. But, if the prompt is filled at the repost, people searching through the archive wouldn't be able to find it. Also, sometimes people bookmark prompts to check them later, and if the prompt is filled at the repost, but they bookmarked the original, then they'll miss out on the fill.

I am so glad that this fandom is back! I missed everyone and everything about it!!

Edit: Also, encouraging people to post their fills on Ao3. Because yeah. :)

I am distressingly new to this fandom because I ultimately decided not to pursue it after the first movie came out (can my future self please go back in time and tell me to rethink my life choices too because what the hell was I thinking?) but now I'm diving headfirst into this and I'd like to say how very delighted I am that this kink_meme is still going, and that plenty of people are still very much invested in this wonderful fandom. I think it's more of people either losing interest in the fandom or LJ itself. AO3 and Tumblr are all well and good but kink_memes have become a core part of any fandom ever since they started.

Half of the time I'm travelling for work and the rest of my free time is devoted to reading/writing, but if I can do anything to help, I'd love to be more hands on this fandom I'm still learning but already desperately love.
