The land of Genosha is ruled by the tyrant Sebastian Shaw, and he has started to try to expand his power past the borders of Genosha, so he has his sights on the kingdom of Westchester. As tensions start to rise between the kingdoms, King Shaw is looking for any excuse to attack the people of Westchester and expand his reign of cruelty into the neighboring kingdom. The king of Westchester wants to avoid a full-out war with Shaw's soldiers because he does not have the man power or weapons to defeat him. But that doesn't mean he isn't going to do his best to end Shaw's reign before it becomes out of control. So he decides the best way to defeat the ruthless king is through deception and by taking him apart within his own court. He needs to get allies on the inside and try to find out where Shaw's true weakness lies before any attack can take place. That's where his son Charles comes in.
Charles is tasked with the job of infiltrating Shaw's court and figuring out his weaknesses. So under the guise of a visiting lord (or whatever the anon thinks of: a courtesan or the relative of someone in the court), Charles is able to use his wits to not only gain access into Shaw's inner court, but also get closer to those that stand by his side. This eventually leads to Charles running into the king's son and prized knight, Erik. Surprisingly there is an instant attraction between the two and Charles decides that another chance for him to get the information he needs about Shaw is through seducing Erik. At first Erik is against risking Shaw's anger by letting a stranger become so close to him, but eventually the two end up in his chambers. The two start a sexual relationship that must be kept secret from Shaw and the rest of the palace, and as they become closer Charles becomes the first person that Erik lets his guard down around. Even though he's starting to really care for Erik also, Charles takes advantage of this.
So while he learns more about Shaw's plans for Westchester and tries to make a deal with Shaw's queen, Emma, to switch her alliances, Charles is also receiving vital information from Erik. But as Charles comes closer to his goal of dethroning Shaw, he starts to feel guilty for hiding his true intentions from Erik and manipulating him. And of course ~FEELINGS~ start to happen at some point.
Bonus: Erik never having sexual relations with a man before and not really knowing how to interact with the lord he's become so found of. This results in Charles topping from the bottom.
Double Bonus: Maybe Emma/Charles at the beginning before he gets with Erik. Charles first aimed his sights on trying to get close to the Queen and find out what he needed from her. This results in sex but Emma is able to find out very quickly that Charles isn't who he says he is.
Triple Bonus: Knight!Logan who serves as Charles' backup while he's in Shaw's kingdom.
