In one of those fanfiction universes with destined love and stuff. Sure, Erik is plenty attractive, but he's never met anyone he's really connected with. He's lonely, and he's had a lot of crap in his life. He meets Charles just after Charles has been badly injured, and it's just a feels explosion of OMG TROO LUV and MY POOR BB. Charles is maybe a bit less emotionally overwhelmed, but ends up being the one doting on Erik.
