Bringing a new meaning to 'ship-wars'. Its the future, humans and mutants are at peace and completely integrated, seen as simply 'Earthlings' by other alien races, the Earth has also long since used up most of its fuel resources (oil, coal, ect) and have since turned to other forms of energy. Now Earth's fleet of deep exploration space ships and military war ships are 'alive', driven and powered by person with high telepathic-type abilities that has literally been plugged into the ship. There's not much left of their original bodies after they have been 'prepped' by the people who build these ships, but the ships becomes their body. They can also project themselves as a hologram to interact with the crew. The more powerful the telepath, the more powerful the ship. But like any ship they need a full crew and continued maintenance and to be looked after, battle damage to the ship causes them pain, and these living-ships have no say in who their assigned or who will Captain them, various 'control' systems having been built into their structures.
Captain Erik Lehnsherr is a powerful mutant in the Earth Defense Force and is out to capture/kill Shaw, who's a rogue military commander/or spacepirate or something. Shaw and his Hellfire organization has been unbeatable and uncatchable since he stole the powerful white warship the "Ice Queen". But Erik has just managed to get his own ship, a sleek pretty little ship called the "X-Man" that just might be even more powerful. Unfortunately Erik's new ship which while enthusiastic, turns out to be less military-minded and much more peaceful/scientific oriented then he had hoped, and to make matters worse he just might be falling in love with 'X-Man' or as the ship/hologram likes to call himself; Charles.
Can Erik complete his mission to stop Shaw, protect his crew and still love 'Charles', can you even love a ship? And the more he learns about just what it takes to 'be' one of these ships, they less he likes it.
