Anyway. I watched that, cried like a baby through the whole thing, and in the truly classy manner that my brain works I thought of a prompt....
One of the boys (I'm going with Erik for the prompt but if author wishes the roles can be switched - maybe even do a take on both!) is on deployment while the other one stays to keep the homefires burning. And then one day Charles is teaching class and when he turns around from the blackboard Erik's standing there in his fatigues just waiting for Charles to notice him.
Cue loads of emotions and disbelief and relief and happiness.
