He's drawn to her by her passing thought - no, never passing, painfully there, but being excised for relief - about a child and a man. A man with most marvelous and strange (and terrifying) abilities (and a baby her little baby her poor little baby shh let's not think of it).
She is a poor immigrant, new to Britain, and it soon becomes obvious that she is heavily pregnant. Charles can feel the children - two nebulous minds like a stream pressing on his skin. He is in the middle of his thesis - young and popular and genius and just so very busy - but one day he realizes that he can't imagine not seeing Magda and little Wanda and Pietro every day. That to imagine them not there cracks his heart like drought-ridden earth.
The obvious next step is to ask her to marry him.
A year or two passes, and he meets a familiar, angry, utterly groovy man in Atlantic waters. Life seemed complicated with the discovery of more mutants and the government being involved - but really, it's nothing compared to what's happening in his personal life.
Bonus: 1. When and how Charles (and Raven) reveal their powers to Magda, along with Magda's reaction, is up to the author. (Does he ever? Is Charles hesitant because of her last memories of Erik? Is she frightened? Regretful?)
2. Marriage before or after twins' birth: up to you. 2a. Magda's and Charles' relationship is barely accepted socially. Poor Roma immigrant with children but (apparently) no previous husband? To the wealthy, on-the-rise Charles Xavier? Horror!!
3. Raven and Magda's relationship is originally rocky because Raven has never had to share her brother's heart before, but they become BFFs or mentor/student-like soon enough.
4. Darwin liiiiiives. (Bonus Pairing: Alex/Darwin) http://xmen-firstkink.livejournal.com/8700.html?thread=18534396#t18534396
Fill: Scenes From a Marriage, below the prompt in 53 parts. I went for pretty much all the bonuses. Fic contains love, angst, sex, healing, and lots of domesticity. Also some heavy shit like racism and the Holocaust, since Erik Lensherr and his Roma wife are in it.
Round 10, Charles/Erik/Magda, Scenes From a Marriage (tw: racism, Holocaust, Anja is dead)
