Prompt: In a small village that worships deities, there are sacrifices every ten years where a villager is gifted to the deities to do with as they will.
One year, the sacrifice is Charles. Charles doesn't believe in the gods and is against the tradition of sacrifice, but is unable to escape his fate. Unknown to him, his best friend Erik is actually a deity in disguise.
Erik has come to love Charles and hesitates to reveal his true nature, but at the same time he wants to protect Charles from the clutches of the other deities he shares his territory with, and that means he might have to use his powers in Charles' presence.
