Newbie in Need

[identity profile] 3traditions.livejournal.com 2011-06-27 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
This is the first fandom kink meme that I have gotten really into an I notice that there seems to be a way to track comments, prompts, fills etc by clicking in the little thumb tack button. However, when I select it the box to track that specific prompt is greyed out and I can't check it.

Is this a common problem? Do you know of any way to solve it?

Sorry for being so stupid.

Sadly, being able to track individual comment threads is a paid account feature; if you're a Basic/Plus/Free account, you can only track entire posts. :(

reposting full length fics as anon?

(Anonymous) 2011-06-27 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Can there be a way for authors who wish to remain anon to repost their fics as one entry? Not on the xmen-firstkink page but perhaps on the firstclass_anon account? I vaguely recall there being such an arrangement for the Merlin kink meme, though I may be wrong.

Delicious Updates

(Anonymous) 2011-06-27 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey!

I was just wondering if there was any word on what's going on with the delicious account? It's been almost ten days since it was last updated, and I was just wondering if there was a problem which was causing the delay or a glitch with delicious that's causing the updates to not show up, or if there's so much backfill to work through that we should get a few extra hands onboard to help?

Thank you for looking into this :)

Seconding this (I'm the one who asked earlier, in fact)! I will gladly volunteer to help out. I was using the delicious account LIKE WHOA when it was running and would desperately like to see it working again!

Second prompt post

(Anonymous) 2011-06-27 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi there, mods. Thank you for all the wonderful work, this is one of the best memes I´ve ever seen.

Just a question... Considering the prompt thread has over 5000 comments, wouldn´t it be better to close it and start the second round?

Just a heads-up - in the "format of prompts" section of the rules you still use the names of Inception characters ;)

un-archived fill

(Anonymous) 2011-07-07 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Hi,

I wasn't sure where to bring this up. I wrote a fill that didn't make it to the Delicious archive. My comment on the Fill List is here: http://xmen-firstkink.livejournal.com/1003.html?thread=921067#t921067

thank you

Re: un-archived fill

(Anonymous) 2011-07-07 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Not a mod, but - don't know what's up with the delicious archive, hasn't been updated in a while, but there's another one that's being actively updated here: http://www.delicious.com/xmen_firstkink2. Your fill is probabaly bookmarked on that one, at least.

Possible chatter/off-topic post?

[identity profile] introductory.livejournal.com 2011-08-04 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi, mods! :3

Wondering if it might be feasible to have a discussion/chatterpost/off-topic post on this meme? It's been done fairly well (http://sherlockbbc-fic.livejournal.com/5284.html) on [livejournal.com profile] sherlockbbc_fic (rants are contained on another post) -- people have used it to ask for story advice, canon help, and beta readers, as well as post meta, plan meetups, make/search for recs, share fandom news. I realize that opening up a forum like that might potentially lead to disaster, but as far as I can tell this is a fairly small, non-wanky fandom and probably wouldn't have that many issues.

the new layout is blocking my view of the comments

[identity profile] ero-chibi-chan.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Layout problemI tried to read some of the fills on here but because of the new layout the comments have been pushed all the way to the left of the screen and the decorative part of the layout is covering them. Is that normal

Having the same problem here. Was just about to post about it.

(Anonymous) 2011-08-10 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure if it's just on my end, but the layout is interfering with the readability of posts?

Sorry about that. I changed the layout and forgot to disable custom viewing, but everything should be better now.

(Anonymous) 2011-08-14 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
I know this is a really sensitive topic, but does the comm have any kind of policy regarding ... Nazism? I've seen Nazism used sometimes as kink and sometimes as drama and sometimes as cruelty, and while I know some people might have a kink for uniforms and history and time period and such, would enough people be triggered by this kind of thing to merit required warnings?

[identity profile] firstclass-anon.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Nazism would generally be included as an extension to real world situational trauma (in relation to WWII, most likely), which is a required warning. But I can see where Nazi fetishism would require a separate warning, so I'll add that to our required warnings.

I've seen the prompt that you're referring to, and if you're the anon who's thinking of filling it, please be aware that I will be asking the OP to repost with appropriate warnings and screening the original prompt and related comments.

Thanks for asking about this; if you have any more doubts or questions, I'd be happy to hear them.

Repost of Fics here?

(Anonymous) 2011-09-12 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I was wondering- would it be okay to post two prompts from the other meme and my fills for them here? Things are a bit unsettled there at the moment and I'd like to make sure I and the prompter don't lose the idea and fill.

Re: Repost of Fics here?

[identity profile] firstclass-anon.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, of course. Prompts and fills from the other meme are always welcome.

[identity profile] roxashasboxers.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
So I hope you guys are ready for the mass migration. Looks like the meme of the other mod finally threw in the towel.

That said, there's probably going to be a lot more action here and I'm willing to offer any assistance if you need it. The mods here are awesome and I'm sure that many others will also be willing to lend a hand to such awesome people! :D

Ableism clarification

(Anonymous) 2011-09-13 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
If Charles is paralyzed but later healed in a fic, does this require an ableism warning? (As in, would it qualify as being along the lines of the "making it disappear" issue?)

Re: Ableism clarification

[identity profile] firstclass-anon.livejournal.com 2011-09-14 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
We don't require a warnings for such an instance, but we do recommend including a note explaining that as a courtesy to your readers. Thanks for asking.

a few hours before the new post was added, can you delete it since the WIP is ongoing?

Warnings for long fics and WIPs

(Anonymous) 2011-09-14 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Does a long fic with a single, small incidence of homophobia etc just need a warning on the particular chapter, or should it be on every post from the beginning? I'm guessing the latter, but wanted to make sure.

And if the author doesn't have a clue what's going to happen next (oops) is it ok to add warnings as things crop up?

Thank you for a lovely community, mods!

Re: Warnings for long fics and WIPs

[identity profile] firstkinkmod.livejournal.com 2011-09-17 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
A single, small incidence of homophobia would merit a warning only on the chapter containing it, provided homophobia isn't a theme throughout the entire story.

Adding warnings as you go along is also all right, again, providing they're isolated incidents and not pervasive. If your plot suddenly takes a turn into, say, abduction/kidnapping, you wouldn't have to warn for previous chapters, only for the chapters that contain the incident and any chapters afterward that contain fallout of the incident.

Thank you for being so careful about warnings!

How to open a non-colourful view

[identity profile] lostduckinc.livejournal.com 2011-09-15 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
Hello! Being totally shameless, I'll admit firsthand that I am very awkward with LJ -- totally like a newly born colt or something. So: is there a page where I can see all the shortcuts to the rounds, the WIPs, the Completed Fills, etc., all in one page? Some kind of masterlist that I can bookmark? A plain page for navigation with everything on it ready to be clicked?

You see, I'm a grapheme -> colour synesthete with a migraine problem (or a migraine sufferer with a synesthete problem), and I find it difficult everyday to read the colourful words in the normal LJ account. I love the appearance, it's just that I can't read the words. And I won't even know about LJ if kink memes are not LJ. So, a way out, please? I do love this community, and I'd like to be able to check it up every day, every hour, every time I'd like a good fic.

Thank you so much! *bows* I apologise for giving you so much trouble.

[identity profile] starkmodistries.livejournal.com 2011-09-17 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
No trouble! I've gone ahead and edited the profile (http://xmen-firstkink.livejournal.com/profile), which should now have a link to everything you need. Is that easier for you to read/everything you needed a link to? :3

[identity profile] subtilior.livejournal.com 2011-09-17 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Hello! Perhaps a silly question; my apologies in advance. I am filling a prompt on 1stclass_kink - may I post a link to it on this comm? If so, where might I do that - the WIP thread? I'm also posting it on AO3, if I should link to that instead of to 1stclass_kink ... am just a little nervous about the latter possibly imploding.

cheers!

[identity profile] starkmodistries.livejournal.com 2011-09-17 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Hi! Go ahead and repost the original prompt in our current round, and then you can comment with a link to either the [livejournal.com profile] 1stclass_kink thread or your AO3, whichever you prefer. :3

Does that cover everything you needed?

Mods, I posted this prompt: http://xmen-firstkink.livejournal.com/3278.html?thread=4277966#t4277966

I used gender where I should have used sex and feel awful about it, as correct terminology is extremely important. so I was hoping you could delete this so that I could repost it with proper terminology and maybe edit it a bit?

Thank you.

Hello~

First off, I'd like to say I LOVE the way you guys are running the comm. It can't be easy running a KM and I love you all for doing such an awesome job ♥

I do have one teeny tiny request, even if it might be a bit selfish... I'm not often around my laptop and so I do a lot of my reading on my phone (can you believe that!), but unfortunately the current layout of the comm is not compatible with mobile web. Is it possible for you guys to perhaps change the layout? I understand layout is probably not your first priority, and I don't mind if you say no. I thought I'd ask since it would make my life so much easier.

(See, I told you it was a selfish request XD)

[identity profile] firstkinkmod.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
This seems to be an issue for more than one reader, so we're looking into this. We definitely want the meme to be easily accessible by everyone, so thanks for bringing it to our attention again. :)
