Despite being 20, I am essentially new to important internet things such as livejournal. And posting fills on lj. How do I do that..?

Simply reply to the prompt you're writing a fill for. Include the title of your fill (if you have one) and any appropriate warnings. If it's a multiple comment fill and/or a work in progress, you can number each comment to keep things organized (i.e. TITLE, warnings: non-con, 1/?). Let us know if you need further help!

The link to the delicious on the Fills post doesn't work. Possibly an HTML problem?

I have a quick question. Eventually you'll close rounds, but say I want to fill a prompt. Can I post it on my own LJ page and then link back to this on the fill page?

Well, when a round is closed it just means you can't post any more prompts, you can still fill them. If there LJ comment limit has been reached, then what I'd rather you do is re-post the prompt to the most recent round and then post the fill to that.

I noticed there's no cut-off point listed for the round... at how many comments will you be closing them?

Also, would it perhaps be possible to have a standard for character names listed in the prompt posts for ease of browsing/delicious archiving/etc? For eg. real names as opposed to aliases, listed alphabetically in the header?

And we'll be adding more (including standard character names) to the prompt posts themselves as soon as we finalize the rules.

rarerpfkink though -- let me get back to you on that. It's just a question of relevance, and I'm not sure, so I want to talk to the other mods.

I just think it'd be really cool if maybe you changed the layout from the standard LJ layout or enlisted the help of someone that's good with graphics to create a a header for the comm. Sometimes the look of a page can really draw people in.

But that's just a suggestion, really. I've been enjoying my time here so much and I think you're doing a fabulous job. :D

This is an X-Men: First Class meme, so I'll totally understand if characters/pairings requested on this meme should be limited to those who appeared in the movie, but since you don't have a rules post up yet and I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else, I wanted to ask how you felt about requesting characters from other X-Men canons.

While this is a movie-verse kink meme, I see absolutely no problem with lifting people and plots from the comics -- I'd say keep it related to the First Class characters or universe, but beyond that, have at! Thanks for asking, though.

The new layout is cool but there is no way to get to the profile page from it.

You can click on the little community icon located at the top of the LJ header (where it says "You are viewing the community xmen_firstkink"). Or scroll down a little bit (once) and you'll see the header that says recent entries, archive, friends, user info pop up.

If we're working on a fill and are posting it as we are going along, should we post links to it on the Fill page, or wait until we're done to link it?

You can post WIP fills to the fill list. I suggest you make a note that it's still a WIP as a courtesy to readers and that you go back and make a note (by replying to your own comment or editing it) when it's finished.

Why are some comments being screened, randomly?

LJ has implemented a couple of policies to slow damn spammers; as a result, some anonymous comments that contain outside links are screened. We've opted out of those, but it's still been an issue.

I looked back about 10 pages and didn't see any screened comments, but if you have a link to your comment, we'll unscreen it.

A big bang community is where authors will have 3 months to write a complete 15,000 word or more X-Men fic, then those stories are claimed by artists to make customized art off of.

We'll affiliate, but let me consult with the other mods before we do any promoting. I don't really like the idea of using posts here for promotions.
