Round 7 - Charles/Erik - A King and his Knight AU
Date: 2012-08-07 02:06 am (UTC)Charles is the Mage-King of Genosha and Erik is his best knight. When his sister, Princess Raven, gets kidnapped by the evil dragon Shaw, Erik slays the dragon and rescues her. As per tradition, Charles offers him half his kingdom and Raven's hand in marriage as thanks (well, half his kingdom plus his blessing to woo Raven because really, what's he gonna do, just give his sister away like property? She'd kick his ass.)
But Erik politely declines and says that he doesn't want anything. This situation has come up every time Erik accomplished some quest. Charles keeps making offers of gold, jewels, fast horses, rare artifacts, etc. but Erik declines each time, saying that serving his king is reward enough. Charles is getting kind of embarrassed because Erik is his best and favorite knight but he has no idea how to reward him.
Frustrated, Charles secretly casts some spell to read Erik's mind and uncover his greatest desire. Turns out, Erik wasn't lying. He's madly in love with Charles and angsts over how he's too lowly to worthy of him so instead all he want is to stay by Charles's side as his favored knight.
So the next day Charles holds a private court session just him and Erik. When Erik shows up, Charles is practically naked and lewdly sprawled out on his throne and asks Erik if he'll accept his reward now and Erik is all "asdflkjsds."

Alpha Games are always exciting, since it's how the nobility omegas are claimed for marriage when they come of age. But this year's games are especially noteworthy, because Crown Prince Charles, widely considered the most beautiful omega in the land and thus highly desireable even if he weren't the prince, is the prize.
As per tradition, the games are held during the height of Charles' heat during his 18th year. At the beginning of the games, Charles is brought out, publicly stripped naked, and tied spread eagle on the display cross so that he's visible throughout the games and the smell of his slick will constantly waft over the competitors. And there he'll stay until the end of the games, when he's brought down and tied to the central platform, have the marriage rites performed, and he's publicly claimed by the victor in front of a roaring audience.
The games start out as friendly competition and the stakes just increase until all but one competitor is weeded out. This year's crop of alphas prove to be an exciting bunch that has business for the gambling brokers booming. There's Prince Cain, Charles' stepbrother who had been lusting after him ever since his father married the Queen and became Regent. And King Shaw from the neighboring kingdom, who has often applied to Regent Marko for a political marriage between himself and the Prince Charles. And among the many other alphs, there's one darkhorse: Sir Erik, Charles' childhood friend who recently obtain the knighthood just to become eligible to participate in these games.

The truth is charles has lived his whole life caring for others, his dad was in horrific accident and needed around the clock care, which his mother, depressed by what happened, wasn't prepared
to give, his father then died and Charles had to look after his drunk and ailing mother. He never had the chance to grow
up or do what he wanted to do. Now he lives in near poverty in the city (we find out later his step father stealing all
his money) looking after strays of all kinds- humans and animals, giving what little money he earns to those he helps.
Erik slowly discovers how selfless charles truly is, its only when he takes him home after Charles collapses from exhaustion what Charles life is really like, he lives in a cupboard with a mattress on the floor so his guests can have nice accommodation for a little while.

All Charles knows about it is that the omegas perform without any form of pheromonal inhibitors as is usual, which means that the safety precautions have been upped by a lot. Bullet proof (but pheromone permeable) glass between the stage and the viewing booths, menacing looking body guards at every door and lurking next to every stage.
